Anyone ever tried a pair of Maui Jim Sunglasses. I had a pair of Thousand Peaks but I decided to send it back and get a Mala instead since it seemed more comfortable, lighter, with better lens technology.

I haven't tried them yet, but I'm interested in comparing them to my Nanowire 2.0s since they are similiar styles.

The only MJ frame I own is the Kekoa (the one for the Amazing Spider-man movie). Cool motif and very light to wear but cheap build quality. Can't speak for the Mala unfortunately, as I haven't tried it on. Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you'll love it.

I believe they're still self-owned, so extra credit for that. I've known a few people who collect O, but stick with MJ for wires.

I conducted a few pseudo scientific tests on the Maui Jim's compared to a couple pairs of Oakleys.

I did the laser convergence test and tried to do a resolution test. The Oakleys performed great in the laser convergence test (as they demonstrate in the Rolling Lab). The Maui Jims also performed great in the laser convergence test.

I tried testing eyeKon after market lenses for my Hatchets and they did not perform great...looks like I need to find some original Hatchet lenses.

As far as the resolution tests it was in conclusive because I didn't have anything that I could be sure didn't refocus after the lens was placed in front of it.

Good to know. Will be interesting to continue testing on modern O's and see how they hold up.

Could be worth trying the resolution test with a high definition DSLR.
Will eventually do it someday.

Perhaps a valuable takeaway is that not everything can pass a laser convergence test, so if you buy some Oakleys on ebay and you're not 100% sure they are authentic do a laser convergence test and if they fail then you know they are fake.
