This is unacceptable. I am going to ask that my membership dues be refunded. :) - oogie

Will you accept it in the form of X-Metal coins?

Now I understand that IH is given a part of the proceeds when an IH purchase is made, but does anyone know how much? I was really put off when I found out that the Breast Cancer Awareness sunglasses were only donating about 11% of their proceeds towards research. - xxmetal

I hadn't heard what the percentage was on the Special Cause items; I had heard that they aren't discounted when other items are (during sale events) because they have proceeds tied to them going to those particular causes. (YSC, IH, TACA)

That was funny Oogie

Yeah the cancer awareness ones donate $20 for each pair sold. on a $180, (knowing in honesty that you cant have more than a couple bucks of materials in your run-of-the-mill fuel cells) you would think that Oakley would put a little more than 1/9 of retail value into their donations. Like with all the money Oakley makes, a 50% or 100% donation on a few select pairs wouldn't be too big of a hit, would help the treatment facilities greatly, and would definitely boost anyone's opinion on Oakley as a company.

Not so fast. Talking like that will only guarantee you will land the very first Juliet at some dime store somewhere for, like, $10. THEN what you gonna do? :D :D :D

Agree, I know I would purchase more IH models if I knew a greater portion of the proceeds went to them.

I hate to say it but when I first discovered IH I remember reading up on it and I could swear that it said 10%. I know the % was very minimal because I actually got upset a little bit being a veteran and all. I thought that a kick-ass company like O would be able to do better than that. It's small but way more than what the gov does. And I tried looking the other day again to find the % and I couldn't find anything. Ok I'm off my soap-box!

Just got finished with some reasearch on charitable organizations and of course IH was the first one to pop to mind. All I could find on accounting is the IRS records that IH has on the website. After debt and liabilities, between 2011-2013 they accrued a net of $2,702,157 (nothing was available for 2014 & 2015). As of the 2014 "Heroes of the Stage" concert, IH claims to have provided nearly $2,000,000.00 in charitable grants. Not knowing exactly how close 'nearly' is to $2 million, for the sake of argument i'll say $1.75 million which leaves $952,157 left over. Assuming I looked at the right numbers and added correctly (probably not) and assuming there were no other expenses or liabilities, this adds up to about 65% of net funds that were distributed.

The only caveat I will add was that the documents I looked at made no distinction between what IH received from Oakley's IH series collection and all other donations coming into IH.

You would be correct in that most big organizations have a pretty abysmal track record of donations which is usually 10% or less from the total donation pool. I'll admit that 65% is pretty high which is why I think I screwed something up. It was also curious of how hard a time I had finding dates and numbers to go with all the statements I found. That is usually a red flag but i'm rolling with it anyway. Fingers crossed.

Question for anyone. Just got my Juliets in the mail today and everything looks great! While checking out the glasses I noticed the one side moves... Is this normal and just the way it's gonna be since there's not a torque screw to tighten?

Yep, it's the flex coupler issue. Inside the pivot points of the nosebridge, there are plastic pieces that keep the metal from grinding, but over time, they deform a bit and it gets too loose. The X-Squared allowed you to use a torx to take it apart, but the Juliet and other related models require the pins to be punched out, and then re-riveted.

JP, I brought my Juliet out to FHR Walk in Warranty Repair a couple years back and they fixed them in 10min, at no cost. They popped the rivets, replaced the couplers, and put in new rivets (of course); now they are as good as new and I can wear them once again.

I would call Oakley Support and see if they are still repairing them. It might cost you $20 or so to send them in; but I would see that as being worth it.

Well... I have good news and bad news. Good news is they do "tune-ups" for the Juliets so I can send mine in and they go over it and pretty much replace anything and everything. Even ear stems and nose pieces if necessary. Bad news is it will cost $64.99 PLUS $15.00 for shipping to and from. I was kinda bummed about this till I thought about what I paid for them. If I had know they were loose before buying and that they can be fixed, I still would've bought them. I just don't like surprises... usually:)

And with that being said... Ive never gone through Oakley Repair before. How should I package them? I'd hate to use the original Juliet box and have that get damaged somehow:/ Its in great condition.

I usually send mine in, inside a spare microfiber bag (I keep spares on hand), and wrap they eyewear in bubble-wrap, inside a box that has enough room. Think of the science project where you try to protect the uncooked egg and drop it from the top of the building. LOL (box size withing reason)

You'll get them back in a properly sized box, which you'll want to hold onto for future warranty shipments.

And I always include a copy of the communications with support and a clear copy of my contact info/return address info; just to make things easier on everyone.
