#DisruptiveByDesign was a slogan used in 2014 as sort of a push to get Oakley back in gear after some concerns about Lux being a bit too omnipresent. 2015 ended up being a year that proved much of that true, but the etching on the lens reminds me a bit of that. I think Jim hosted something at RED too.
Since this was two years later, the convention story makes sense.
