I think my Thumps have messed up. The left earbud has started vibrating badly, and only produces a crackly sound. I have no idea how this has happened, as it suddenly started doing this with no reason. Does anyone have any solutions? Or does it have to go straight back to Oakley?

Anybody else had this problem?

Our Thump 1 demo did the same thing- turned out the speaker wires were make intermittent contact.

If you've got a soldering iron, you can probably pop the mesh cover off yourself and fix. I'd send it in though.

I think I'll leave the soldering Iron alone - its only 3 months old... Hasn't had any drops or knocks, so a little dissapointing,,, but these things happen.

Warranty in the US is 90 days, and I'm assuming it's the same in the UK, so best send it in quick.

Same thing happened to mine after about the 4th or 5th time wearing them, Only in the right ear bud. There's still sound but very distorted

The minimum warranty period allowable by law in the United Kingdom for removable media is 90 days. I don't know if that applies to the Thump or not, since it's a media player rather than just storage.

There should be an insert in your box somewhere with the warranty terms on it. Likely to be EU-wide rather than written specifically for the UK market.

Even if the warranty is only 90 days, the product has to be repaired or replaced free of charge for 6 years under UK trading standard laws unless it can be proved to be down to normal wear and tear (and I don't think a 3 month period would be called wear and tear, as they are mint!), but I will wait until I hear back from Oakley (sending them off tomorrow).

I would just try sending it back to Oakley. Sometimes they will just honor a warranty or repair it.
