I'm really puzzled about the X metal XX- specifically with the Tio2 and the 24k.

I have owned 2 tio2s and both had serial numbers and the silver part looks and feels matte.

My friend has a Tio2 with serial and is also matte...

But i have seen a few pics of newer Tio2s with the silver part looking like its polished! and smooth! Ive seen a Tio2 with polished silver displayed in a mall stall aswell!!

I know the Tio2 isnt available anymore.

Now my question is:

Are the later Tio2s (with or without serial) polished silver rather than matte?? arrggghh!!

Is this another version of the Tio2?

... is this like the plasma frame? (old plasma was yellowish now its more silver looking)

pls shed some light.. thanks!

Attached is a photo of the so called matte silver Tio2 and 24k.

are there 2 types of Tio2s and 24ks?

This one (im sure youve all seen this) looks like one of the smooth polished Tio2s...
or is it just the lighting?

To whoever owns this ... is this one of the silver polished Tio2s? thanks!

Yes, newer TiO2s generally have their plasma portions more silverish than matte white. They're usually denoted with a "B" serial number suffix, though "A" suffiexes tend to be silverish as well. I believe they changed the plasma portion due to the discolouration of the original Plasma.

Thanks! Its nice to know that theres nothing wrong with my sigh ehehe!

Ive also noticed the older Tio2s to have more flaws (some parts are rough they look like theryre from casting the metal and there are tiny dings on some old Tio2s aswell) than the newer ones...

=P The imperfections make them unique =P

That's also been noted. The quality control has gone up in some areas, and down in others. Personally I agree with you though. I like the small imperfections. Just shows how difficult the metal is to work with.

to tell u the truth Karmeister, I would rather own the ones that u have. Im more into the old school way of the x metals. The polished frames back in the days arent as polished as the later batch frames. And in collecting, the more old school ur stuff are, the more money they're worth :-). So how about take some pics of ur goodies and post them up here. Let everybody see what exactly u got and so I can see what Im gonna wanna buy from u :-D

the tio2s you have are unbeleivably rare, they are gen one tio2s. there have been three since. they have different coatings applied in a different manner using later technology, the first ones are worth around 4000 bucks, the latest ones only 3999. anyone want to start an official tio2 thread? or just clog up ebay?

hehe...

it's just different techniques used for polishing etc, maybe they use different grade sanding wheels, cheaper from a new source, are they hand polished, or machine?

i do prefer the rough pitted look myself though, gives them character.

Hey Darren, where do you get your numbers? If a usual TiO2 costs 3999-4000 usd, then a Plasma one costs... 10000? Mhm... I think I've not understand that joke.. - Or do you mean a "TiO2 1st Gen Flores Ruby Extremly Rare" on ebay?

i was taking the piss, kinda like, why worry about generations, they don't do it on purpose for collectors, they change from batch to batch or whatever because materials and techniques vary, i'd prefer them to be a bit rougher myself in varying conditions, makes them seem more personal and unique,

i was referring to the ruby craze as regards the comment on the price, and that people will say anything on ebay to push up the price...

It's a plasma frame with ice lenses. A great combo. It was a standard stock colourway back in the day.
