Last weekend my wife and I made our bi annual Oakley/Casino pilgrimage to Detroit. We visited the Vault Store at the Great Lakes Crossing Mall in Auburn Hills. I spoke to the Store Manager who told me that she will be at Easton Towne Center in Columbus for two weeks interviewing potential candidates for the new O store in Easton. Finally, an Oakley store in the great state of Ohio that is less than an hour away from me.....O-H...

I-O!

This is awesome news. I was getting weary of the prospects of driving to Cincinnati every time. It will be interesting to see how it does in Easton. Justin, you applying for a job?

Hmmmm. I mean, I do have a 9-5er already..but I might considering how much I would enjoy working there. It wouldn't be about the pay, which I'm assuming isn't that much. How about yourself?

No, not me. Only if I'm there all the time and they need the help, which I doubt will happen. I just thought you might jump all over the chance.

Bob, any word on the exact location?

When the Vault Store Manager and I were talking about it, my first thought was inside the mall. On the drive home it dawned on me that the O store could be located outside in the "Town" area. If I would have thought of it at the time I would have asked. I do know that she will be doing interviews inside the Easton Mall Office. She said that she will be "scouting" the stores inside the mall and at the Polaris Mall looking for people who fit the Oakley profile. You know, if I was looking for work this would be a great opportunity! Both you and Justin live so close, it would be a great job just for the Oakley discount.

My guess is outside. They've expanded one wing of it on the exterior, so I bet it will go in there somewhere.

So you mean she's just going to be hand picking random people from the shoppers to interview? Interesting... is that how other new stores hire staff?

Justin.... are you happy at your JOB?

don't look at the pay or discount as a deciding factor.... look at the Job as a foot in the door. If you want to work for Oakley in greater capacity then you have to start at store level in most cases.

I've heard many stories and met some people who now hold greater positions in Oakley where did they start.... O-stores

I'm definitely considering it, regardless of pay. I wouldn't mind working weekends or a few hours in the evening. It'd be a great way to share my passion with others...and you are correct, it'd be a killer way to get a foot in the O-door and hopefully my degree would help move me up.

I found an article online from the Columbus Dispatch. It's going to be located in arguably the most crowded area of the entire mall in the main lobby near Gameworks. I wish I could roam around looking "Oakley" enough for the chick to recognize me. Working the initial setup of the store would be so amazingly fun. It'd be like unwrapping present after present.

Just go to the exsisting store and ask for an application. When you go to turn it in ask for the store manager and tell them that you specificaly want to work at the new location. Also see if there is a posting on oakley.com

LOL, they will, I am sure, be recruting from other stores in the mall.

The closest existing store is 2 hours away...still might be worth the drive.

Also, I can see them stealing a lot of employees from the Buckle that is located right across the way from the new location.

Figures. I just moved away from Ohio.

Of course, I moved to Florida and have a Vault within 20 minutes and a real O Store less than an hour away. :)

Ohio doesn't know what Oakley is about. I could go months without seeing another person wearing them.

The Vault Manager told me that she will be looking to recruit in the stores in both Easton and Polaris as well as interviewing 15 out of over 50+ resumes/applications received. Some ideas to check for a possible interview might be the Easton Mall Management Office (that is where she said she will be conducting the interviews)

You could also call the Great Lakes Crossing Mall and have the staff give a message to the Manager by calling:
(248) 322-7033 or
email the store: OSTORE64@OAKLEY.COM

Let me know if you have any success! Best of Luck!

Good Buckle employees are hard to recrut, their commission is pretty good.

What kind of commission are they getting at Buckle? I know those guys bend over backwards to get you to buy their jeans, but I didn't think it was anything significant.

The Columbus O Store in Easton opened up today. I stopped in very quickly to have a look. They had a DJ set up in the front window and it was crowded. There was a pretty good mix of eyewear to choose from, both new styles and the "traditional staples." One wall was dedicated to OCP. I will say that there was a much larger portion of woman's eyewear than I remember in other stores. I didn't talk to the staff much as we were in and out.

Anybody else make it out yet?
