great collection paul. we share the same passion for the zeros, you rock. I just hope the iridium coatings of our vintages does not peel off one of these days.

Oakley's Patio sales event would have been a yearly steals if they have not cancelled it for 2011 because of oakleyvault.com. Too bad the last one was in 2010. $100 on all x metals including ducati's. Most sunglasses at $30, Even Smith, fox, Ray bans and Oliver peoples at $30-$40. Thumps electronics at $50. Time bomb watches are $200's. $50's on the Blade and detonators etc. apparels, bags, shoes are at 70% or more off and much more to mention.

-Nike, is there still any space left down your basement?

-jules, nice haul. Hard to get a hold of these, unless from a forgotten stash from a dealer or from a rep.

Stuff that we could barely afford due to this economy. The case would be "to get something you have let go of something".

It's sad to know that people are fooled by this counterfeit manufacturers, just for them to experience Oakley the affordable way. Consider us lucky...

This was chrome coated professionally I guess by dipping like what they do with metals and definitely not with a spraypaint. Cost me money to get this done but worth it. I have 2 of these done. The other one is with another collector.

I'm sure by now that all of us can tell if its fake by just the quality alone. The R trademark was present at one point on the 1st gens.

Check pics below for the comparison on the new and 1st gen cobalt with red iridium. Cracking pattern on the 1st gen is more compressed. 1st gen frame is less glossy, new gen inner embossed has more protrusion. I'm not sure if my observation is consistent to all production.

Our likes is just 1% or lest of their market and will not restructure the direction they are heading because we are not happy. The Oakley co-pilot event is for me the last thing they did for our kind, from here on, its purely business. Either you go with the flow or just searching for pieces of history.Industrial age is over hello mainstream for Oakley.

The "oakley Software" and the "static Icon" back then has great designs as well as quality, I'm still using some. Now its more of a wear once, throw away type and the designs are leaning towards hollister and abercrombe & fitch market.
