They called me today and said that the crown is bent and needs to be replaced ($58). I asked if it was cosmetic or if it could hurt the watch and they said it could hurt the movement over time so it should be replaced. Not sure how that could have happened and can't help but wonder if I fell for the "car repair upsell" but I gave them the go ahead to do it.....
Said I should have the watch back in a week and a half or so. The battery ended up being $20.

The first time the battery went dead I just changed it myself. Was very simple, 4 screws on the back, take cover off, battery was right there and swapped it out. Problem is, somehow the "movement" (internal mechanism that makes the watch work) broke when I was setting the time & date (it wouldn't advance the date). I had to send it in to Oakley and they replaced the entire movement. ~$300 later and it was back in action.
I know that I did nothing to hurt the movement when I swapped the battery out, but it still cost me $300. So from then on I decided to start sending them back to Oakley to get the battery changed, that way if anything happens it's on them to fix.

The battery went dead on my Time Tank (Minute Machine) so I sent it back to Oakley to be replaced. Last time I did this a few years ago it was quite simple, I sent the watch back through USPS insured, it cost $20, and I had the watch back pretty quickly. When I called to set everything up I was told they have a new system, I had to fill out a form and send pictures of the watch, then they emailed me a prepaid UPS order. I asked if it still costs $20 and the woman said yes for the watch battery - plus labor which is usually $30!! $50 for a watch battery is quite ridiculous, hopefully she was wrong as the form I was emailed said $20 including labor. The woman also kept asking me if I have a receipt/proof of purchase which I do not as I received the watch as a gift and it was a long time ago anyway, probably 6 years. I'm wondering if the labor charge is to get some more $ out of people who bought stuff on eBay and don't have receipts.
I sent the watch in on 5/13 and it arrived 5/20 (took an entire week to get there since UPS is slow from NY to CA). Today it's the 29th and they still haven't gotten around to looking at my watch. I called them on Friday the 24th and talked to a guy who said they get a lot of watches in and they only have TWO people working on watches. He mentioned that with the backlog it will take 2-3 weeks.
Have you guys found a similar wait time? It seems quite excessive to me. I'm going to be without my tank for at least a month when all is said and done. If they try to charge me $50 for it they can also forget about me buying any more watches. Sad to say it but it seems O as a whole is slipping. The new designs are boring (both with glasses, apparel and shoes), the customer service is obviously not what it used to be, they're jacking up the prices of most everything, and the newer stuff being made in China just tops it off.
Sorry for the long rant.

I'm hoping one of you guys can help me out. I picked up an Orange Hollow Point, which is absolutely awesome. Since it doesn't have the micro adjustable clasp like my Minute Machine, I'm trying to get the fit perfect for my wrist. The Hollow Point has full links and shorter links that are like 3/4 of the size of the full links.
If I take out a full link and a short link, it's too big on my wrist. If I put the full link back and take out 2 more short links, it's a bit too tight. What I want to do is take out the one remaining short link and replace it with a full link and I think it will fit perfect then. The only problem is, the watch doesn't come with enough long links to do this.
I called HQ last night and asked them about it and they said that I would have to ship the watch to them in order to get a link! I really don't want to go through all the hassle of boxing it up, shipping with insurance, and being without it for a few weeks just for a single link.
I was wondering if someone on here might be able to hook me up with a long link for a Hollow Point? I just need one and I'd be willing to send some cash your way to make it happen. Thanks!

I think I will call back and climb the ladder and see if I can get someone that can help. That was my original plan but I thought I'd ask here first. If the leather tanks are $275 at the vaults then I may as well pick one up from a vault and put my titanium band on it if all else fails (the actual body of the watch is the same, right? So I can easily swap the band?)
I wonder if I'd have a better shot waiting till Monday to call, maybe the higher ups have the weekend off?
Thanks guys

So after adjusting the date and time after a battery replacement, the date stopped advancing on my time tank. Everything else worked fine on the watch but the date wouldn't advance with the hands. I sent it in to HQ last week to be fixed and today had a message on my machine when I came home: it's going to cost $290!! to fix unless I have a valid receipt, in which case the fix would be free. I received the watch as a gift in June of 2008 (which puts it under warranty) and since it was a gift I don't have the receipt.
Can anyone help? Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks

I have the tool pouch 2.0. It's really quite small....when the reservoir is full and pumped up with air there really isn't room for much else. A fleece might fit but it will be tight. The pack works good for me on the MTB, I put my iphone in the sunglasses pocket and that puts it in a good place to route the headphone wire. Haven't followed the changes/spces on the 3.0 and 4.0 though so they could be bigger.

Wow! $85 to replace the battery?! I wonder what HQ would charge, I'll have to call them. Anyone have any experience with changing the battery themselves on the TT? I'd really rather do that if it's straightforward....

My TT stopped working yesterday, so I guess it's time for a new battery. It looks easy enough, I think I can just remove the four screws in the back cover, swap the battery, and replace the cover. What are your experiences with this? Is it something I can easily do myself or should I send it back to Oakley?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's because the iPhone/iPod Touch doesn't support the bluetooth profile that lets you change songs via headset buttons....hopefully in the 3.1 firmware it will be supported.....

I had (well, still have) a kevlar wallet when they came out. They held up pretty good but as Paul said the corners took a beating.
I now have the small leather wallet. I like it a lot. Have had it for I believe 3 years (could be only 2 and a half?) and it's holding up well. The only wear I can find is a little piece of the material in the billfold area is torn at the top, maybe 1/4" and it really isn't noticeable at all.

From what Donnie and Hollie have told me the past couple years, the teeth low are only available at the Rolling O Store. A lot of the crew guys wear them - which is really how I got into the Oakley thing in the first place. Donnie & Hollie are good people!

The black teeth lows are still available at the Rolling O store which goes to all the NHRA national events. You can probably get ahold of them through corporate or look them up on myspace. If all else fails I can probably get you in touch with those guys.

I'm in for a Woodbury meet. I about fell over when I happened to run across the Vault there. Was there shopping for other stuff, and I never go there. I saw the Vault then like a week later got the oakley newsletter that had the opening on it. Pretty nice to have a Vault an hour or so away!

Does anybody have the SI Beanie?
http://oakley.com/pd/4176/13109)
I'm looking at picking this up to go under my helmet this winter for cold days skiing. This way I have a helmet liner and neck warmer all in one. My question is, is the material at the top thin enough to fit under a helmet and not be uncomfortable? Also, it says on the site folds to become a balaclava when unbuttoned - where does it button and how does that work?
Thanks

Er no, the point was, as people post in a natural fashion, the classifieds would pop up after that limit had been reached. We've had plenty of people spam to gain access and that's a sure fire way to make a bad name for yourself.
I know, and I'm not planning on doing that. I just normally do more lurking than posting and nobody seems to want to divulge exactly how many posts it takes. Guess I'll have to try to post more instead of lurk......
