A regular over on another forum we are all probably familiar with... I refer to this site often enough I figured it was about time that I stop in and say 'Hi.

As for me - I have a modest collection, mostly X-Metals, with some carbon on the side ;-)

Was able to finally get a pair...
Dark carbon Prizm daily polarized. - supersharp

Have you worn these out much? I thought the benefit of the Prizm lenses was negated by the excessive amount of light these let in. I opted for the Prizm in the Badman instead and my eyes are really appreciating them!

Inventory check this morning had qty 10 of the Raw at one location - South Beach or SoHo, and 15 at the other... not sure what stores the other 100 are going to?

I also scored my Madman today... first impressions...
Madman: :(
Grade: C-
Overall: Disappointed
- The inferior design of the two (compared to Badman)
- They feel weaker than the Badman, too frail on the hinges and nose
- Not as similar to the Mars fit as they look - they feel way different - I prefer the Mars by a mile!
- Practical use is limited due to poor eye coverage - they let light in from the inside and out - more useful as costume jewelry
- The only colorway I even remotely liked was the Pewter/BIP - It had a bit of style and just enough color with a hint of 'steampunk' (so I bought that one)

I'm loving the Prizm lenses. I got them in the Badman and can't say enough good things about them =]

I was told by two different Oakley employees that the Raw would be available at the top 25 stores in the country. I am not sure what those stores are - I know none of them are around me. I am thinking most of them will be in CA or Vegas, maybe a couple in NY or FL, perhaps.

If what I heard is not correct and these will only be available in TWO stores that is just crazy.

I also heard that there were going to be a few of these reserved, like 32 or so, leaving only 128 actually available for sale.

I guess we'll find out soon =]

The more angles I see of the Madman the more interesting it gets. They look comfortable... How stable are they when wearing them?

Thanks for the visual - They are a bit bigger than I thought they would be!!

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not an X-Metal we were wearing
Neither me or my spouse

The bunkers were sitting by the chimney with care,
In hopes that soon again the sunnies we would wear.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Frogskins danced in their heads.

When around the cabs there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the office I flew like a flash,
Reached for the cab keys, opening in a dash.

The lenses reflected the light like new-fallen snow
Reflecting upon all the display stands below.
When, what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

There in my cab so nimble and quick,
I knew in an instant
it must be St. O-Nick.
More rapid than Ferrari Carbon his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Romeo! now, Juliet! now, Mars and C SIX!
On, Penny! On, XX! on, on X-Squared and Half-X!
To the top of the cab! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

And then atop the cab, I heard on the roof,
Metallic prancing and pawing like titanium hoofs.
As I raised my head to my wonder I had found
Down the side of the cab St. O-Nick came with a bound.

His eyes hidden behind those frames so merry!
With dark ruby lenses as red as a cherry!
His static-O hoodie was drawn up like a bow,
With SI pants and Shoe Ones covering every last toe.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
The Medusa encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
With a laugh like a bowlful of mad science and jelly!

With a Time Bomb on his wrist engraved "#1 Jolly Old Elf",
It was obvious St. O-Nick was a bit of a collector himself!

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Arranging the display, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
He whispered "Unobtanium" - then up the cab then he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh of O-Matter with a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he vanished from sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

//

I hope you all have an exceptional Holiday!!! Whether you're starting Christmas Eve, winding down Hanukkah, or observing something else - whatever you celebrate, celebrate it well, as best you can, cheerfully, merrily, and safely!

Good stuff... I was/am sensitive to the X-Metal branding of anything other than X-Metal, proper =]

I think I can retrain my brain to:

1. Accept the continuation of the X-Metal design/style/intent in pair not made of 1st gen OG X-Metal

2. Smile when I hear about the "Aluminum" collection

3. Acknowledge this is Oakley and therefore:
Always room for improvement + more Mad Science / 17 years of technical progress = a product worthy of our consideration

I already feel better!

Aluminum for that price?

It better be some wicked cool Al "O-luminum" alloy for that price with a heck of a nice box, case, coin, etc...

So the Badman and Madman frame material... I see X Metal (Metal) listed but some are insisting these are aluminum with Unobtanium components. Has anyone been able to confirm the frame material? Is the X Metal (Metal) simply a marketing tactic... or a misprint?

Thank You Dann. The post is really all about awareness, but it is hard not to vent. The material loss is what it is - its just stuff. Its the way we handle the situation that defines us.

If there is a better area on the site/forum to post this info to please let me know. It can be simple like Juliet #44 and X Squared #446 =]

I've also posted it over on that other forum... If there are other places that you or anyone else thinks would be good please let me know.

24K Juliet #44 & 24K X Squared #446 > MIA… MISSING… LOST or STOLEN?

As the title says - these are both currently ‘missing|lost|stolen’. Of course ‘missing’ can mean different things. In this case let’s just say that I sent them away and they never came back. It was not a break in or other direct theft the obvious guess why would be the correct one. The pairs were not taken from my vehicle or lost in the mail. The chain of custody verifies that they were in the possession of another party when they disappeared.

So shame on me for letting them out of my sight, right?

Yeah, pretty much.

I cannot say where exactly they were last seen. However, I can say that the last known location was in or around Mira Loma, CA, United States. That should be enough of a clue for y’all. They were mint when they left me, only sent away because the other party insisted they have them for additional lenses to be installed. :headbang:

Note that I have sent C SIX's and other valuable pieces in to this other party before and never had a problem. That was then and this is now .

I don’t want to go through all the details - I have done that too many times now with way too many folks. :mad-35:

Besides, that is not important. The past is the past and this post is about current status and awareness moving forward. What is important is that after close to 2 months of searching they are officially gone, a police report has been filed; other parties have been engaged as appropriate. Both pairs have been reported as stolen. All parties have done their due diligence, or as much as they will admit to, in investigating the issue.

So what now? Anyone excluding myself who has these pairs in their possession is in possession of stolen property. These are still mine. I am retaining proof of ownership and all rights to these pairs.

I have since replaced the missing pairs with LNIB, complete pairs. ..."whatever" + "meh" x "blah"= how I feel about the replacements.

Now, facts being what they are there is another more subjective issue. This experience has sincerely soured my desired to collect. I do not want to sound negative ungrateful as I am truly thankful for finding replacements at a very reasonable cost in a timely manner, but when I received the replacement pairs is when I really noticed the greater problem. I guess it’s kind of like having to deal with a car dealership after they have screwed you over on something major - maybe you got a lemon? It’s not the car’s fault entirely, but the manufacturer and dealer make it worse… Or being around a girlfriend or other Ex after an ugly breakup? Pick a scenario where it is not easy to continue the relationship and I’m not far from there. Right now I am honestly not sure I want to continue. I know I am currently neglecting the O-stuff big time. In recent weeks I have hardly looked at my cabs or anything in them. I find myself going to non-O tinted Rx reading glasses instead of the Oaks… I don’t want to sound all butt-hurt and whiny, but I got to see first hand how this other party deals with people. They are very, very nice until they feel they have compensated you in some way then bye-bye. No more communication, no more trying - the very definition of customer disservice - unhelpful and adding insult to injury. There were times they could have completely ignored me instead of communicating the way they did that would have pissed me off less. Furthermore it’s not just the sunnies. Its the shoes, the shirts - anything and everything with an ‘O’ icon on it. I can’t stand the sight of it due mostly in part to how the issue was handled and not nearly as much because of the issue itself. I understand the business side of this - I went into the situation with an open mind and reasonable expectations. I was expecting that I would get the short end of the deal one-way or the other for sure. However, the communication was the thing that truly disturbed me. It is the principle of not doing business with others who do not seem to hold the same standards of truth and decency as I do that has me in this unexpected place. That is the real problem moving forward, if there is a way forward with regards to the situation at hand. By writing this post I am not extending any good vibes - I know that. This is not about Karma. Its about responsible business practices and standing by the people who support your brand – or not!

I am not trying to discourage anyone or burn any bridges here. I am only trying to explain the ramifications, the result of all this beyond the material loss. I feel a lot more could have been done to prevent and/or resolve this. Sure, things happened – stuff happens all the time and not always in our favor. That said there is no justification for what happened in this case the way that it happened. Not just the lack of proactive, logical and physical security controls, any ongoing status, and so on. It is about gaps so large in communication, before and after, during ‘discovery’, and follow-up. Its about making a choice to work with someone who has been dedicated to your brand for as long as they can remember – or not! That is the part that was missing during most of the process and has been completely absent regarding follow-up pertaining to the investigation since the ’settlement’, which was more like a kick in the teeth, an insult to injury at best, rather than fair and just compensation.

In case anyone thinks that is a bit much I’d like to add that I could go on for hours… days… its not nearly enough for the time – the blood and sweat I have invested developing this relationship as it relates to my collection. Suffice to say they are NOT worthy! If anyone from the party responsible for these being lost|stolen reads this and thinks it is harsh remember these were not lost in the mail - they were not sent in because they needed help - they were sent in because you insisted and YOU FSCK'd UP!

(Breathes deeply…) Maybe this will pass, maybe it won’t - time will tell. :idk:

Back to the sunnies - Please, if you see them, or if you see a suspicious pair unmarked or otherwise available, perhaps ‘for parts’, please let me know ASAP. Once again they are 24K Juliet #44 and X Squared 24K #446 – easy #s to remember. It should also be obvious as they will likely be 'incomplete' in some way or may have suspicious packaging (label torn, no coin, etc...).

Am I offering a reward? Certainly, but I am not committing to any item or amount in particular - perhaps a nice X-Metal, maybe a couple of hundred dollars? I can assure something, but that something will depend on the cost to recover the pair(s) and their condition upon return. I am confident MANY of you would notify me without expectation of any reward or compensation simply because it’s the right thing to do.

One last note… I’m not sure if there is a thread for ‘lost and found’, missing, and possibly even stolen items? :help: If there is please let me know so I can post this there. If not, maybe there could be? I’m sure I am not the first and I doubt I will be the last!

Anyway, Happy

Happy 10th OR!!! <./insert_cake_with_0xA_candles>

Without this place I'd be a bit more 'lost', no doubt. I would certainly not be as confident in my understanding, ability to collect, and perhaps most importantly contribute and share. Without that confidence, resources such as OR (as I browsed anonymously for years until signing up relatively recently)... without those pieces the puzzle would still be less complete than more. What would be the point?

// Thank You //

And I remember those days: "...never had internet, and didn't see a need. I found an old dialup connection host at work and would connect to it to check e-mail. Was exciting to check email each night and see who was using the site." - not this site, but earlier on I had a few of my own that I feel the same way about. It seems so long ago now but was it really?

The TinCans had these, very smooth. Cool design and function - I like it a lot... It was a shame that that was the only part of the TinCan that I really liked, they had to go back (Ferrari TinCans, specifically)

Oleophobic: "Oil-resistant", for lack of a more detailed definition. Often used by Oakley in addition to the term 'Hydrophobic", indicating the surface (usually lenses, but could be apparel or other items), is resistant to oils in addition to water.

ANSI Z80.3 - Current standard for most Oakley Plutonite lenses. Considered a 'downgrade' by some (ok, many) this standard is not as "strong" as the ANSI Z87.1 standard. Per Oakley "Optimal precision and impact resistance that meet or exceed ANSI Z80.3 optical and basic impact standards" - this now applies to most Oakley eyewear current and moving forward except where explicitly noted for sports, shooting, etc...

I have them all and the Ice and OO Red are a tie for 1st IMO.

...3rd place could be the Ferrari, but maybe the Carbon/Ti... not sure, depends on the weather and/or what I am wearing?

The matte BIP and Grey are #'s 5 & 6

I don't see how you could go wrong with and Ice CB

I was also very excited about these... WAS... I am sending back 2 pairs of the Ferrari TinCans today. I thought I would give them a shot. The sizing is smaller than the Jupiter I had, which was way too big for me, but these TinCans are still a bit big for me. I had other concerns like incomplete finishing of the arms, the assembly of the nose bridge, the "?" material on the back of the orbitals holding the lenses in. I think its a shame as I really liked the hinges - I thought they were well done, but that was about the only part of them I like, uh... liked past-tense.

Also, I know this is a 'fit' thread, but FYSA - I found the polarization to be less accurate than the Carbon Blades, which was a surprise. They were not as clear, many more shadows, rainbows, and dark spots in the Ferrari TinCans I had. I expected them to be on par, and they were not.
