Another good review. I'm liking the change in background. Nice change of scenery.
I'm also liking the Triggerman as well. Despite the criticisms that it should've been a new release in the X-metal family (which I would've liked), the TM is a great release. Oakley has consciously been switching to lighter, more supple O Matter in its frames for wearing comfort (some call it cheaper), and I think this release has benefited from it. Frames just wear so much better with the upgrade in lightness and fit well with all-day comfort.
I agree with the pin hinge issue. Not liking it.
As for Torch, it is a nice lens, but my preference leans more towards Fire, Ruby and +Red. Would love to hear more comments/reviews on the lens (including the polarized version).
The TM is really the only new release I'm interested in getting! I feel kinda disconnected since I haven't bought anything O except for the Store Front in awhile now. I don't have anything "Torch" so that would probably be my choice but the new Matte Black/Sapphire Polarized is a banger too. I agree with Oak on the change in background/scenery. You can barely hear that damn smoke alarm so that's a plus as well. LOL. Great review as always Dann.
The kitchen works well for when I have a lot of stuff I need to access. For this single pair, I was able to just wing it. Just no good table access in my office unless I balance a piece of lexan on a step ladder like past videos.
Torch, I feel, is a little more versatile being a lighter base. It's fine for mid-day sun, but buys you a few extra hours later in the day too.
Great review, as always. I haven't had any real time with my pair since receiving it recently. But I think that hinge was the first annoyance I noticed. My pair seems excessively difficult to open and close, missing that snap of the dual cam hinge. Just hope it doesn't become a QC issue in the future.
I always saw breakaway hinges as an Oakley staple alone with stems that curve inwards, not hooked down over your ears. That was one of the nice finds about the New Canteen.
Great review Dann! They are in my daily-wear rotation as well. I hadn't even thought about the pin on them; guess it just seemed normal to me for that style of frame.
