You sure they'll be 50% off? I mean, the website says "in high demand" and "limited stock"! They may sell out and be gone forever! I think the Ellipse will be as big a hit as the Re:Subs were which they still can't get rid of at 50% off.

I personally really like the Re:Subs. I have two pairs and I don’t double up on a frame often.

I think the Ellipse price is scaring and ticking a lot of people off. Most people would buy the Ellipse without blinking an eye if they actually really retailed for $200/$250. You can say I’m wrong - but in my experience Oakley fans are like Nike fans. They complain and rip on new pairs and eventually a good number of them do a 180 and end up buying them.

I was excited about the Re:Subs when they came out, but for me, they were a let down. They are the only Oakley's that don't stay put when I'm running, they tend to slide down my nose. Just felt like they were a weak homage to the originals.

I think the Ellipse is kinda cool, just not that much wow for a 50th anniversary release in my opinion. It reminds me too much of the Latch Panel for what they're asking...I'll wait to see if it goes on SI or becomes customizable.

You are right though, $200-$250 range and I likely wouldn't be debating.

I get it - if they are moving around and they are inconvenient to wear, especially when you're running, I can see why you wouldn't like them. I guess I didn't see them as a homage as much but more as a pair inspired by the originals. It's tough to surpass the OG of anything. It happens but not often it seems.

The Ellipse isn't earth shattering. But I think they feel since they made the icon into an actual pair of eyewear is why they believe these are anniversary worthy and also justifies the price.

$200-$250 is reasonable. IMO the actual cost is based on nostalgia, perceived cool factor, some tech and the fact that they are unofficially pushing it as an anniversary model.

They are releasing these in the 50th anniversary color-way: Midas Fleck/Prizm 24k
